The 2019 Acura RDX has an all-new look and is sure to appeal to even more shoppers. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been updated too, but the former proves to be the superior mid-sized SUV in regards to safety, interior features and overall performance.

Performance and Entertainment

  • • Stronger Engine
  • • Bigger Cargo Hold
  • • Larger Entertainment Screen
  • • True Touchpad Interface

Controlled by a new ten-speed automatic, the RDX has a redesigned turbo that generates 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. With a nine-speed automatic, the standard Cherokee Overland engine generates 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The RDX has a big 10.2-inch screen. The system includes two or four USB jacks and a rearview camera. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has a 7-inch touchscreen which is replaced by an 8.4-inch touchscreen on the Overland. Apple CarPlay and other advanced connectivity is part of this package as it is on the 2019 Acura RDX. However, only the Acura RDX has a True Touchpad Interface. This gives you many more ways to interact with the screen.

Luxury

  • • RDX: Richer Interior
  • • ELS/Panasonic 12-speaker audio system

Since the 2019 Acura RDX is a luxury vehicle, every inch has been crafted for refinement, durability and looks. There are soft touches everywhere, and technology is seamlessly integrated into the design. A panoramic sunroof is standard. While the Cherokee offers many similar amenities, it can't quite match the total quality in the RDX design. If you compare the Overland Tech package to the Acura RDX Tech editions, the prices stay comparable. However, the RDX picks up an upgraded leather interior, more USB ports, a blind spot monitor, and an ELS/Panasonic 12-speaker audio system.

Safety

  • • RDX: Superior Crash Avoidance Standards
  • • RDX: Road Departure System

The 2018 Acura RDX has standard driver aids such as adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. A forward collision warning with an autobrake gives RDX drivers peace of mind. A lane assist seeks to correct lane departures. If you want these features, they are as much as $4,000 more on the Cherokee. Only the Acura RDX has a road departure system. It recognizes if the wheels go off the pavement and works to correct the situation. All in all, the RDX allows drivers to have more peace of mind while on the road.
