Designed by some of Japan's leading automotive groups, the 2020 Acura RLX and 2019 Lexus GS offer mid-level luxury at competitive prices. Available with the Sport Hybrid powertrain, the RLX is more efficient, muscular and dynamic than the GS model. Additionally, the AcuraWatch package has better active safety features than the Lexus Safety System+ suite.

When furnished with the Technology Package, the 2020 RLX gets a V6 engine block that spits out 310 horsepower. Consisting of 24 SOHC valves that operate on the i-VTEC system, the 3.5 L propulsion unit has a peak torque rating of 272 pound-feet. The Advance Package includes a hybrid powertrain with three electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. You'll get up to 377 hp and 341 lb-ft from the hybrid system. Additionally, the Advance Package comes with the Sport Hybrid Super Handling AWD system, which improves traction in poor weather conditions. Powered by a 3.5 L V6 engine, the 2019 GS has output limits of 311 hp and 280 lb-ft. Additionally, this Lexus sedan has classic rear-wheel drive (RWD) and AWD systems that aren't as adaptive as the SH-AWD. The RLX Advance Package includes the Precision All-Wheel Steer, which surely delivers best-in-class handling on paved surfaces. A 10-speed gearbox is paired with the P-AWS, and a dual-clutch transmission works with the SH-AWD.

Set up by default in the 2020 RLX, the AcuraWatch technology lessens your risk of accidents on the road. Featuring a radar sensor in the front grille, the Collision Mitigation Braking prevents potential crashes with moving obstacles that are ahead of you. Having the all-new Low-Speed Follow label, the Adaptive Cruise Control determines the ideal cruising speed on the freeway. This lavish Acura sedan also boasts the Traffic Jam Assist, which helps you navigate roads with heavy traffic congestion. Front and rear parking sensors are included in the Sport Hybrid edition. Both RLX models have the Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Information System. When you purchase the Advance Package, you'll enjoy additional driving aides, like the Head-Up Warning and Surround View Camera. Although it's packed with intelligent safety features, the Lexus Safety System+ isn't quite on par with the AcuraWatch suite.

Using GPS-derived weather data, a tri-zone climate control system regulates temperatures inside the 2020 RLX. This high-end HVAC system also has sensors that monitor the air quality and humidity in the cabin. You can't get such a sophisticated climate control unit in the 2019 Lexus GS. However, both luxury sedans offer ventilated and heated front seats with durable leather upholstery. Rain-sensing windshield wipers are available in both vehicles. Ambient lighting and footwell lighting systems illuminate the RLX's cockpit. The electronic gear selector also minimizes clutter in the contemporary cabin. Additionally, this high-end Acura sedan offers the Smart Entry system with an electronic key fob.

At Pohanka Acura, you'll be convinced that the 2020 RLX is better than the 2019 Lexus GS in various categories, including technology, comfort and safety.
