Battle of the mid-size SUVs is in full-effect for 2019. Many of the most prominent automakers have already released their new models for the coming year, and they have created quite a buzz. Acura and Volvo SUVs are designed with vehicle enthusiasts in mind. Advanced technologies, premium components and striking good-looks can be expected from these two SUVs, but they also provide a good amount of practicality. Here is a comparison between the 2019 Acura MDX and the 2019 Volvo XC90.

The 2019 Acura MDX makes a great impression at first sight. This vehicle sports a husky silhouette as well as a low profile. The unmistakable Acura emblem sits proudly upfront inside of the vehicle's grille. Acura's Diamond Pentagon grille looks amazing thanks to its three dimensional design, and there are a host of black-chrome accents that are scattered across the exterior. The Jewel Eye LEDs appear as two piercing eyes, which provides outstanding lighting under any road condition. The MDX also has an athletic feel thanks to its chrome-dual exhaust, and it sits well-balanced on 20-inch alloy wheels.

The 2019 Volvo XC90 also looks great with its contemporary elegance. This vehicle comes in four trims, including the Momentum, the R-Design, the Inscription and the Excellence models. Volvo has done a wonderful job of retaining the XC90's classic styling. When viewing from the side, the XC90 looks a bit bland, but it looks stellar when viewing from an angle. The best exterior feature has to be its rear-tail lamps as they seem to melt right into the frame. Another great feature are the "Thor-Hammer" headlights. On an overall level, the MDX outshines the XC90 because it provides much more fine detailing.

Interior Features

The all-new Acura MDX has a phenomenal interior that offer elegance components and supreme comfort. Comfort features were built around the driver and passengers. Its third-row seating has touch-smart slide access, the seats are heated and there is independent-climate control. The MDX's natural-wooden accents are refined, and they come in either Olive Ash Burl or Dessert Olive Ash. The vehicle's huge moonroof is stunning, and it can be accessed at the touch of a button.

The Volvo XC90 allows you to travel in comfort. There are seven luxurious seats in this cabin as well as 85.7 cubic-feet of cargo space. Scandinavian design, and Swedish craftsmanship can be found here. One of the better features in the cabin is the crystal glass-gear shifter. For the driver and front-seat passenger, there are built-in massage and heat features. Both vehicle's have extraordinary interior features, which ends the cabin debate in a tie.

Tech Features

Acura is all about keeping you connected with your favorite devices. Streaming is the name of the game as there are USB ports, Bluetooth capability, Pandora and SiriusXM radio. The ELS audio system provides 10 speakers, and there are many driver-assisted technologies on deck. Volvo has an amazing nine-inch Sensus touchscreen. Thanks to voice-command technology, passengers can access media, phone and navigation features. Depending on the model, Volvo also provides multiple sound systems.

This battle was mighty close, but Acura's extra technological features give it the edge in the end. The next time you're in Chantilly, Virginia, stop by Pohanka Acura to test the 2019 Acura MDX.
