The 2019 Acura MDX is a stunning luxury midsize crossover SUV that may be at the top of your list, and you may actively be comparing it against the appealing 2019 Audi Q7. The Q7 is a full-size luxury crossover that may be equivalent to the MDX in many ways at first glance. Trying to decide which of these gorgeous SUVs to take home is seemingly difficult until you take a closer look and focus on their differences.

The Acura MDX is a smaller vehicle with a lighter weight. It is equipped with a V6, 3.5-liter i-VTEC engine and an automatic transmission. This powertrain yields 290 horsepower with 267 feet-pounds of torque. The Audi Q7 comes with a Turbo 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine. It generates 252 horsepower with 273 foot-pounds of torque. Both of these vehicles have a smooth, responsive feel on the road thanks to electric power steering, anti-lock brakes, a quality suspension system and several additional features

Interior Design and Features

The MDX is classified as a midsize SUV because it has substantially smaller dimensions than the Q7. However, they both have two rows of passenger seating with an optional third row, a roomy interior and ample cargo space. In fact, the MDX has almost 20 cubic feet of additional cargo space than the Q7 has. Both of these vehicles also are loaded with high-quality design elements and innovative features. Some of these features include leather interior, heated and power-adjustable seats, memory seats, a touch screen display for the infotainment system, a superior sound system and several additional features. Keep in mind that both of these SUVs are available in multiple trims, and variations exist across all trims.

Exterior Appearance

The Acura MDX recently received a major facelift in the 2017 model year, and the Q7’s last major update occurred in 2015. The MDX has an extended hood that slopes gently downward into an angled grille. The grille is flanked by dominant, angled LED headlights. Moderate contouring runs along the side panels, and the liftgate has a slight angle and a roof spoiler for added definition. The Audi Q7 for 2019 has a stately presence with linear contouring along the side panels and only a modified slope through the hood. The grille is dominant and is flanked by rectangular headlights.

As you try to decide which of these quality SUVs to purchase, you understandably want to find the model that offers true value behind the wheel. While the MDX is a smaller vehicle, it offers similar passenger seating, a more modern exterior, similar features and superior performance. More than that, its base model is priced substantially lower than the Q7’s base price. To further compare these two vehicles, stop by our dealership for a test drive.
