Die-hard Acura fans were first thrilled by the Acura NSX back in 1991 when the first models hit the streets. The 2017 Acura NSX is home to a powerful 3.5L V6 engine that is rumored to produce over 550 horsepower with a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. This much power is due to the three electric motors and single lithium-ion battery pack inside the NSX. One of these powerful motors lies between the engine and the transmission as it provides regenerative braking and initial torque. The two remaining motors are placed up front as they drive the two front wheels. You can also use Acura’s Integrated Dynamics System to personalize your driving experience using four different modes – Quiet, Sport, Sport+, and Track.
On top of its commanding engine, the all-new 2017 NSX was built on an aluminum and steel frame with a carbon-fiber floor. Its innovative and light-weight design maximizes performance, and is Acura’s first use of a revolutionary multi-material space frame design that delivers class-leading body rigidity while remaining lightweight. This elegant frame sits on 19-inch ultra-thin-spoke wheels in the front, and 20-inch wheels in the back to give it an aggressive stance.
When you open the door of the 2017 Acura NSX coming soon to Virginia, you’ll see that this two-seater has all the technology and comfort you need. The masterfully-crafted steering wheel puts every control right at your fingertips, including the paddle shifters. There’s also the 3-meter instrument cluster, which features a color TFT center master with reconfigurable graphics to keep all of your vital information organized. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the redesigned center console, which holds the push-to-start button ignition in the middle for easy access. Drivers can also enjoy a panoramic view of the road ahead, thanks to thin windshield pillars, as well as padded, black and red stitched leather panels throughout the sporty cabin.
While many of the features on the Acura NSX are new, some you’ll find across the Acura lineup. Like the 2015 TLX, the NSX has a dual-clutch transmission design that delivers fast, smooth shifts with greater efficiency than traditional automatic transmissions. The NSX has also taken a page out of the 2017 MDX’s playbook with the Electronic Gear Selector, which engages the transmission with one simple, intuitive touch. And like the 2017 ILX, the NSX has the distinguishing look of the Jewel-Eye® headlights that light up the night.
