Acura to Spend $1 Billion on New Models
Great news for Acura buyers - there's more magic coming down the road thanks to expanded investments by Honda to the tune of $1 billion.
It was only four years ago that Acura started making some cuts to their luxury wing against sales challenges that threatened the brand, but the announcement to invest more money into producing cutting edge new models is a sign that the turnaround is complete. Models such as the RLX (the future flagship for the brand), innovations added to the MDX sport wagon, and the NSX super car are just the start.
Last month, Honda’s U.S. marketing chief Mike Accavitti said that the company needed to change its image as a "value company in the premium space" to one that is more aggressive against its German competition as well as Lexus, Toyota's luxury entry.
Leading the way in this effort is the new flagship for Acura, the RLX. As KBB
describes it, the RLX is "the most ambitious offering to date from Honda's luxury division."
